Ruling my gym freak era!! (maybe :\ )

Going to the gym is not all about losing weight; it's all about getting fitter, leading a healthy lifestyle, and gaining strength. The first time I entered the gym, I could feel the pressure building in me. Being a newbie to the gym took work. When I look around, all I can see is people lifting 50-70 kgs and me just panicking cuz I don't know what to do!!! (aaaaaaaah πŸ˜–) It's then, almost after a week, that the anxiety settles down, and you feel comfortable there. (phewwww)

So, there is a neuroscience behind this. This is a kind of conditioning. When you go to the gym, or an unknown place, a sense of fear or anxiety might kick in you, and this is the unconditioned response to the unconditioned stimuli of going to the gym. After a while, you get motivated when you start seeing changes in your body, you start feeling energized, and the sound of the gym equipment, the sound of the treadmill running, and not to mention the gym musicπŸ˜‚ may condition you to the whole gym environment. The place becomes so familiar to you. Therefore, these scenarios act as conditioned stimuli. Some sort of learning happens during this conditioning period, which keeps you motivated to go to the gym or reminds you of working out, which is called a conditioned response. Whenever you see a dumbbell or gym equipment, it reminds you of working out! πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

You also experience a sense of pleasure while working out, and this is because of the release of feel-good hormones, dopamine, and endorphins. Dopamine is associated with pleasure and reward, and an increase in dopamine levels leads to improved mood and motivation. These neurotransmitters invoke a sense of reward. Since it is reward-gaining, we tend to experience pleasure from it, which is why you find very few people quitting the gym!!😎

So folks, get up and HIT the gym!! Biee biee... See y'all next week.πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹
